My name is Bob Schoultz. I graduated from Stanford University in 1974 with a degree in Philosophy and a strong athletic background, which led me to select Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL training as an avenue to repay my NROTC scholarship obligations. I became a SEAL officer in 1975, and over the next 30 years, served in numerous SEAL positions not only in the US, but in Europe and Latin America, and spent some time in Africa and Southeast Asia. My family and I lived overseas on four different occasions for a total of 8 years. I also learned a lot about leadership, by observing others, being led by good and not-so-good leaders, and on-the-job training in leadership positions from Platoon Commander, to SEAL Unit Commander in Panama to Commanding all the SEAL Teams on the East Coast as a Group Commander. During my final tour in the Navy, I was selected to be the Director of Character Development and then Officer Development at the US Naval Academy, where I realized that developing junior and mid-level leaders had been what I had enjoyed most during my career with the SEALs.

Upon leaving the Navy in 2005, I was able to continue my passion for character and leader development as the Director of the Master of Science in Global Leadership (MSGL) program in the Business School at the University of San Diego. Over the next six years, I significantly grew the MSGL program, taught its Ethics for Global Business course, and learned how my military experience and values transferred well into the business sector. In 2011, I chose to enter the private sector and continue to serve as an educator in the broadest sense of the word. I continued to teach in the MSGL program as an adjunct, have been involved in corporate education in various venues, and additionally, do consulting, coaching, and speaking. In 2015 I found that my values and approach to leader development were very much in synch with All American Leadership, and I proudly agreed to become a member of the AAL faculty team.
